The need for educators and educational institutions to adopt innovations that enhance the learning process in the contemporary era is sacrosanct.
This forms part of discussions at the International Fellowship for Educational Leaders and Executive Leadership Masterclass at the University of Ghana, Legon Campus, which was organised by the Institute of Educational Leadership Practitioners of Nigeria, IELPN, with the theme: ‘‘Innovative Leadership in Education: Strategies for the 21st Century.
The Registrar and Chief Executive of the Institute, Dr. Olufunmilayo Olusa, said the workshop offers extensive dialogue on the need for educators to be innovative in all their dealings and activities.
According to Dr. Olusa, the volatility of the 21st century calls for the adoption of certain innovative pedagogy that is in synch with the fast changing and technologically advanced education ecosystem.
To achieve the purpose of the international workshop, the Institute’s Chief Executive noted that the conference featured prominent educational leaders from Ghana, who gave robust insights on how educators can transform into entrepreneurs and how entrepreneurship can be improved upon.
In her presentation, one of the resource persons, the Director, Global Quality Assurance Association in Ghana, Dr. Violet Makuku, stressed the importance of capacity building for educational leaders in order for them to use their knowledge to transform the society.
She encouraged educational leaders to internalise on acquired knowledge and skills thereby enabling members of the society to benefit adequately.
Dr. Makuku emphasised the need to have disaster and risk management strategies in educational institutions to forestall future crises.
The event culminated in a courtesy visit to the Nigeria High Commission in Ghana, where Ambassador Dayo Adeoye, played host to the educational leaders, and commended them for organizing the laudible conference.
Ambassador Adeoye described the workshop as timely and highly efficacious, promising that the Nigeria High Commission in Ghana will continue to support the Institute of Educational Leadership Practitioners of Nigeria in all its programmes.
Prominent facilitators at the international workshop include: Professor Pradeep Sharma, Professor Helen Kwanashie, Dr. Daniel Adjei, Dr. Violet Makuku, among others.
