Christ Embassy Takes Free Medical Care Outreach, Eye Surgery to Waru Community targets 1,000 People

By Our Reporter

Christ Embassy Abuja Zone 1 in collaboration with ‘‘Loveworld MedicAid Vision 10, 000,’’ has provided free eye surgery for 1,000 people in Waru Community, in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

The groundbreaking ceremony, which was held on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 27th and 28th at Waru Primary Health Center, aimed at improving sight and addressing ophthalmic needs of 1000 beneficiaries in the Waru community, Apo district of Abuja.

Speaking during the outreach, the Pastor of Christ Embassy Abuja Zone 1, Pastor Dipo Fisho, said the initiative was borne out of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s passion for indigent people and to protect and give them hope.

Pastor Dipo Fisho said the church had been deeply moved by the absence of critical infrastructure and basic amenities in Waru, chief among which was the absence of an adequate and functional primary healthcare centre.

‘‘This initiative is strategic because it will provide free, high- quality and affordable healthcare services for all.

‘‘We believe in long-term solutions that transform lives and communities, and that everyone everywhere can be a part of this campaign. It is our strong desire to strengthen our global health care systems and preserve lives through the Loveworld Medic-aid.

‘‘It is the pastor’s passion to reach people. It is beyond preaching, it is beyond praying, praying is very good but what would reach people, touch people, be able to affect their lives and livelihood is our passion, that is what Christ taught and so, we said out of ten thousand we can do a thousand and in fact right now we are looking at over a thousand because the people that registered are over two thousand and we are not going to send anyone away. We are going to ensure that the surgery is performed and they are able to see. We are going to ensure the ones that need glasses are given and we are going to ensure that there is a follow up after the medication so their livelihood is sustained. That is one of the things we are going to do. And again, the reason we are here, is not a hit and run project, we want a situation where we have a presence here, we have medical personnel, we have medications here so that consistently the community can benefit and know that there is a God in heaven that sees and reaches out to them through men, those are our motivation. We did not do anything without the direction of our patron and president, while he was praying, while he was meditating, he gave the direction, he gave the direction that we should come to Waru and the quest is very important. We are in many communities; we are doing so much in many communities but since the man of God said that we should come to Waru. God is right because we’ve had it so smooth. Said Pastor Dipo Fisho.

Also speaking, the Senior Medical Officer of the LoveWorld MedicAid, Dr. Olajumoke Ola-Akinsonya, said the goal of the initiative was to make a tangible impact on people’s lives beyond spiritual support.

‘‘We looked at equipment needed at the primary health care center and likewise their medical consumable and we uploaded everything. That is why we are excited to open the adapted primary health care center. Going forward we are going to be having the training of the personnel. We are going to also make sure that they follow due process to provide the excellent medical services to the indigenes and also their basic essentials health care center service that everyone has the right to. So the health care center is going to make sure that medical services are readily available to anyone irrespective of class and status.’’

The event culminated in the presentation of a certificate of adoption for the medical facility to the district head, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between Christ Embassy Worldwide and the Waru community.

The Guest of Honor, Air Vice Marshal Precious Amadi, represented by Luka Dauda, lauded the efforts of Dr. Chris Oyakhilome, emphasizing the initiative’s potential to transform lives by restoring sight to the visually impaired persons.

The District Head of Waru community, Chief Ibrahim Sarki, expressed gratitude and pledged to donate land for the construction of a church and school in the community.

Beneficiaries of the outreach initiative were overwhelmed with joy, thanking Pastor Chris Oyakhilome for extending uncommon love to their community.
