The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasiru Idris winner of the Kebbi State gubernatorial polls.
Idris defeated his closest opponent, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aminu Bande.
In another development, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has denounced the purported declaration of Senator Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, as the winner of the Adamawa Governorship election by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Hudu Yunusa.
INEC also suspended the collation of results of the supplementary election.
The electoral body said the action of the REC amounts to usurpation of the power of the Returning Officer, insisting it is null, void and of no effect.
It said that the process had not been concluded before the declaration.
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri has expressed confidence he would be re-elected despite the controversy surrounding the gubernatorial election.
Fintiri, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stated this on Sunday while addressing journalists in Yola, the state capital.
The governor’s assertion is coming amid the controversial announcement of Aisha Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner of the election.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Ari Hudu, unlawfully announced the APC candidate winner without the full results from the poling units where supplementary election held on Saturday.
